eThekwini denounces fake news on water cuts

Residents are warned that this is false news.

eThekwini Municipality informs the public of a fake article published by News 24 stating that Durban will face heavy water cuts. “The article states that there will be water cuts for seven hours every night from Thursday due to the ongoing drought in the province. This will then result in eThekwini limiting water supply in all municipal areas.

Residents are warned that this is false news, which was disseminated with intentions to cause unnecessary panic among residents and tarnish the image of the municipality. The municipality wishes to advise residents that there is only one planned shut-down for Sea Cow Lake and Springfield Park, north of Durban, which has already been communicated to the public,” said municipality spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela.
