Help with food drives in Amanzimtoti during lockdown

For this exercise to be successful, two food banks have been set up.

Having past the halfway mark of lockdown, local service organisations are starting to be inundated with community requests for assistance with food.

Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge, said a coordinated initiative has been put into place, working in collaboration with service organisations and the KZN Council of Churches, to collate a single database of those who are currently being facilitated with support, and those who are requesting support. “Each case is assessed on merit and accordingly supplied in line with available resources.”

For this exercise to be successful, two food banks have been set up. Toti Methodist Church will receive goods on Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 11am. The contact person is Colette Snyder on 031-903-2540. Rhema Family Christian Ministries will receive goods on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 11am. The contact person is Pastor Kevin Anderson on 083-326-3860.

Cash donations using the reference ‘Covid Toti’ can be made into the following account:  Lions Club Welfare, Standard Bank Galleria, bank code: 057527, cheque account, account number: 051568055. For more information, call the project coordinator Reverend Ivan Heylock on 082-822-5768.
