Happy ending for missing dogs

Amanzimtoti SPCA’s Michelle Hannan said, “Today we were lucky enough to be involved in a story that had a happy ending. Please make sure your dogs are microchipped so if they fall into the wrong hands you can prove that dog is yours."

It was a heartwarming moment when a stolen dog was reunited her loving owner, recently. The seven-month-old Schnauzer puppy, Telulah was stolen from her home on Tuesday, 18 February. She was later found being sold at a local garage.

Her owner, Truzanne Minny who described the experience as a nightmare said, “Telulah went missing on Tuesday. We posted all over Facebook and contacted CCPO and SPCA. On Thursday we got a call from SPCA to say she has been found and that CCPO took her from someone trying to sell her at a garage. We are so delighted and happy to have her back. I’m so disgusted that people think they can take pets away from my family.”

Truzanne also added that even though her fur-baby was not microchipped at the time, she is has already been scheduled for the procedure. Meanwhile, a dog who was adopted from Amanzimtoti SPCA had gotten out of his yard after a fault with an electric gate.

Kristen Fletcher who was distraught after her furry friend went missing said, “Bear had gotten out of the gate. We posted details on Facebook and contacted the SPCA. On Tuesday, a person saw the post and recalled seeing Bear at the Adam’s Road traffic lights. Michaela saw Bear with a begger and when she went back that afternoon the man told her that he sold the puppy. Michaela and her husband took the man to Kwamakutha and the man told her that Bear ran off again. They later went back with the assistance of the police they managed to get Bear home safe. We are so thankful to everyone who assisted.”

Bear is now safe at home with his owners. Although he was traumatised at first, he is now doing better and is glad to be home.

Amanzimtoti SPCA’s Michelle Hannan said, “Today we were lucky enough to be involved in a story that had a happy ending. Thank you to Doreen Ingram Mendleson and to CCPO for being alert and with the help of the public they were able to reunite Madeline with her dog . Please make sure your dogs are microchipped so if they fall into the wrong hands you can prove that dog is yours. We do it here for R240 per animal and its done in mere minutes.”
