Lend a helping hand at Toti SPCA this festive season

At the moment, the organisation is struggling to get kitten and puppy soft food and pellets.

It is that time of the year, when it is imperative to lend a helping hand to others. Over this period of the year, the Amanzimtoti SPCA embarks on a variety of different fund raising ventures and needs the support of the community.

Firstly, the shop needs to be stocked with beautiful goodies as these make affordable and unique gifts for customers to buy family and friends. A fundraiser is organised by Sweetwaters Church, Carols by Candlelight combined with a flea-market on Monday, 16 December.

Amanzimtoti SPCA’s Michelle Hannan said, “In the past we have raised close to R8, 000 on this day and received loads of pet food as pet food is the entrance fee on the day. We accept everything that is in a reasonable condition that can be resold. We sell Bric-a-Brac, clothes, kitchenware, toys, books, working electronic equipment, antiques and much more at our stall (same items for our shop).”

A gift wrapping station will also be situated at various malls throughout the festive period and the funds raised will go towards the organisation.

“We need volunteers to help us. We will be wrapping at Seadoone Mall, Galleria and PnP Arbour Crossing. People who can help please contact Megan at megansvendsen1@gmail.com or WhatsApp her on 082-413-0190. She will then contact you. We will wrap from 11 December until 24 December. Shifts will be about three hours each. Each stations hours will vary. Once you contact Megan she can give you the possible shifts,” she said.

At the moment, the organisation is struggling to get kitten and puppy soft food and pellets.  They have received an amazing donation of rice and would love some chicken breasts (boneless preferably), chicken hearts or livers and pets mince to cook with it.

Donations can be made at the different shop locations; 1 Nyati Road, Athlone Park which is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 2pm and Saturdays from 8.30am to 11.45am.   They are closed on Sundays and public holidays. 115 Kingsway Road, Warner Beach and Just off Scott Street, Scottburgh.

Those who would like to donate a money over the festive season can use the following bank details: FNB, Amanzimtoti SPCA, account number: 62807184552, branch code: 220 127, ref: donations.
