Celebrate International Cat Day by adopting a kitten

A ‘purr-fect’ way to also celebrate the day is by adopting a shelter cat or kitten.

As a way to celebrate one of man’s most beloved furry friends, International Cat Day is observed annually on 8 August. The day was originally created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare as a way to show some extra love to our feline friends.  A ‘purr-fect’ way to also celebrate the day is by adopting a shelter cat or kitten.

These adorable kittens will be available for adoption in the next few weeks at the Amanzimtoti SPCA.

Here are some tips to ensure that you are kitty ready:

  • Ensure that you have sufficient time to spend with your new companion.
  • Make sure your cats are healthy and happy, with a quick visit to the vet.
  •  Invest in some fun toys and a scratching post or make your own.
  •  Be patient and loving with your cat.
  • Purchase cat food and treats that are high in nutrients.
  • Train your cat to use the litter box, if they don’t know how.
