WATCH: Local musician hits all the right notes

During his schooling career, the 20-year-old, would often grab the lead in musicals, where he was given an opportunity to show of his talent and belt out his favourite tracks.

Talented Amanzimtoti youngster, Cameron Hood is expanding his passion for the music industry by posting videos of his acapella tracks on social media, which has been widely relished by the public.

“I find that people do enjoy my music.  I often receive positive feedback and some constructive criticism, which I also value.  I will be posting more videos on social media as well.  Recently I also began playing at gigs and I am both, excited and hopeful that it will gain more momentum,” said Cameron.

He believes that his first moment under the spot light truly cemented his calling for music.

“The key moment in my music career thus far has definitely been when my grandmother, who is a member of a fitness class, asked me to sing during a concert that the class was hosting, after another musician had stepped out at the last minute. I believe that was truly my defining moment as a young musician.  It provided me with an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone.  I also sang in acapella which is something that I really enjoy doing,” said the talented youngster.

The local lad is passionate about music from the 90s and the 80s and is inspired by musician, Josh Groban.  Cameron is also perusing a Diploma in Fitness and hopes to become a musician on cruise ships.

 “My advice to anyone who wants to peruse a career in the music industry is to try to be your own critic.  Hard work and consistency is always key to turn your dreams into a reality,” concluded the youngster.
