Matthew receives KZN colours in swimming

Matthew is the first student from his school, as well as in the Upper South Coast district, to be selected to the boys U13 KZN schools swim team.

Matthew Maree, a Grade 7 learner at Amanzimtoti Primary School represented his school when he swam at the Umlazi trials at the end of February.

From there he was selected to the Umlazi team and then swam at the KZN provincial championship trials in April at Kings Park pool where he won a gold medal for the 100m butterfly and a bronze medal for the 50m butterfly. Matthew achieved two new personal best times. In June he learnt that he was selected to the primary schools KZN U13 swimming team.

Matthew is the first student from his school, as well as in the Upper South Coast district, to be selected to the boys U13 KZN schools swim team. On Saturday, 13 July, Matthew was awarded his KZN colours with a certificate as well as a badge by KZN aquatics chairperson, Rocky Naidoo, in a ceremony held at Kloof Senior Primary School.

Matthew trains with coach Marno Langeveldt at Titans Swimming Club at Kuswag Skool.
