Amanzimtoti’s Clean Surf Project to spread word to inland communities

Elaborating on a school visit that took place on Friday, 7 June at Amanzimtoti's Disney Land Pre-School, Warner Beach, it's evident that all CSP's efforts aren't going unnoticed.

CLEAN Surf Project’s (CSP) school presentations will now reach inland areas as the environmentally-conscious organisation looks to spread word of taking care of the oceans with more youth and educators.

Elaborating on a school visit that took place on Friday, 7 June at Amanzimtoti’s Disney Land Pre-School, Warner Beach, it’s evident that all CSP’s efforts aren’t going unnoticed.

“It was such a great morning with awesome children, showing such great interest in the environment and marine conservation,” said Sapphire Coast Tourism’s Romy Wenzel.

CSP thanked teachers from Disney Land Pre School for hosting the crew. The CSP team is astonished with the positive feedback received from educators and parents after children were spoiled with Candice Harding’s fun presentations about marine plastic pollution.

“It has been confirmed that a lot of the little ones, aged between three to six years old, are returning home and asking their parents to please use plastic responsibly, as well as requesting a visit to the beach to collect litter. This is simply amazing,” explained Romy.

The team headed to St. Charles College in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday, 19 June to spread its message going inland and as far and wide as possible. This holds great importance as the majority of litter gets brought to the coastline from upstream, inland locations in the event of rain or major floods and storms.

Clean Surf Project extended gratitude to Art on Kingsway for displaying drawings and ‘plastic’ artwork that was made by grade 2 learners from Warner Beach Junior Preparatory School.

All learners and teachers are wished a well-deserved winter holiday break.
