Suspect nabbed for woman’s brutal murder

The suspect was released on parole two months ago.

KwaMakhutha police nabbed a 38-year-old suspect for murder at his hideout in Jules Street, Jeppestown in Gauteng on Friday.

It is alleged that on 13 May, Gugu Mdletshe was severely assaulted by a known suspect and was taken to hospital for medical attention where she succumbed to her injuries. A case of murder was opened at KwaMakhutha police station for investigation.

The suspect was released on parole two months ago. In April 2013, he was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for the murder of his then girlfriend, Nomfundo Mthembu, whom he fatally assaulted in June 2012.

The suspect fled the area after the latest incident and went into hiding, however an intensive investigation led to his arrest. He was brought back to KwaMakhutha to be charged for murder and will appear in the Nsimbini Magistrates Court today (Monday, 3 June).
