A boy on a bicycle was struck by a light motor vehicle

A MALE cyclist was knocked by a vehicle and killed in the N2 bridge on Nyathi Road in Athlone Park on Saturday afternoon, 18 May.

According to Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst, reports from the scene indicate that the boy on a bicycle was struck by a light motor vehicle at about 3.10pm.

”Paramedics found that the child was in a critical condition due to massive trauma to his head and chest, and he required advanced life support intervention. While paramedics were stabilising him, he went into cardiac arrest.

A full advanced life support resuscitation was initiated, however, the patient’s injuries were too severe and he died,” said Herbst.
