Els kicks off exciting chapter of Toti rugby

I do believe that our first team will do very well and hope to see them in the top two.

Amanzimtoti heads into the new 2019 season with a new chairman at its helm. Casper Els (50) has been a member of Toti Rugby Club for three years and a committee member for two of those.

“I played all my rugby in Gauteng. What I have done in my life as a player, coach and an administrator is absolutely immaterial today, what I do today define who I am now, not what I have done yesterday. “My focus as chairman of the Toti club will be on a holistic approach to rugby. I feel I can improve the club’s facilities and enhance a ‘club first’ focus. There will always be obstacles no matter what you do, that’s the beauty of having such a diverse club. You can’t please everyone all the time.

I do believe that our first team will do very well and hope to see them in the top two. The second team’s fortune will depend on injuries to the first and second team during the cause of the season, but we also hope to see them in the top two. Our third team moved up a division and are playing much stronger opposition than last year, so I will be satisfied with a top four position.”

Casper was born in Kempton Park and did his schooling at Elspark Technical High in Elspark, Germiston.
He is married to Karin and they have four children – Clinton Els (25), Monique Els (22), Frans Mare (26) and Louise Mare (16). They have lived in Toti for seven years.

“I don’t have a specific hobby, but I do collect caps and model cars, especially Formula 1. In my spare time I keep busy with a variety of activities such as home improvements, gardening, woodwork and watching rugby.”
