Amanzimtoti resident stabbed, shot in hijacking ordeal

The suspects also fired a shot at the victim, but fortunately he managed to deflect the gunman’s aim.

An Amanzimtoti resident (62) was stabbed and shot at during an attempted hijacking on Friday night, 29 March in St Winifreds.

According to the Community Crime Prevention Organisation, four armed suspects in a white Honda Ballade attempted to hijack the victim’s vehicle at about 8.50pm. He put up a fight and was stabbed in the arm, chest, abdomen and leg. One suspect also fired a shot at him from about five metres away, but fortunately he missed.
