Welfare team mentors youth in job readiness

The programme aimed to provide young people with skills and information to enter the job market.

KINGSBURGH Child and Family Welfare hosted an AECI-funded youth mentorship programme on Wednesday and Thursday, 20 and 21 February.

The programme aimed to provide young people with skills and information to enter the job market.

Aspects covered included applications/CV or resume (writing skills to prepare a CV), work readiness, work habits, personal and social presentation as well as interview skills. This enlightened the attendees about the attributes of being employable, being a lifelong learner, developing a life purpose and plan.

An inspiring and empowering morning was experienced by the youth. The welfare team feels positive about the impact of this programme as it has increased self-esteem and provided the youth with hope that they can improve their quality of life. The programme inspired change by encouraging youth to believe in themselves and know their worth.

Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare thanks Jo Anne Jansen Van Vuuren and Natasha Aarsen from Express Employment Professionals and Chantal Beaza, a local businesswoman and employer for the two days of inspiration, motivation and empowerment.
