During the rescue, off-duty Amanzimtoti beach manager, Jayce Govender responded and was on the scene to help, as well as Toti lifeguards who responded quickly to stabilise the victim. A Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic assessed the patient on scene and found him to be in a stable condition. He was then transported to hospital for further treatment.

“Another quick response and a huge thank you to Ahmed, who is a hero, and the lifeguards for their swift response. Tiger Rocks has had a few drownings recently, so swim in groups and only with lifeguards, and avoid alcohol when swimming,” said Ramlall.
