Amanzimtoti principals heap praise on class of 2018

A pattern of concerted effort, constant determination and resilience is evident throughout the three local high schools, which churned out another year of pupils who achieved well in their final matric papers.

PRINCIPALS and teachers who played a role in the success of Amanzimtoti’s 2018 class of matrics are beaming at the results, which were released to the pupils last Friday, 4 January.

A pattern of concerted effort, constant determination and resilience is evident throughout the three local high schools, which churned out another year of pupils who achieved well in their final matric papers.

“This is a phenomenal achievement that more than doubles last year’s results,” said AHS’s Michelle Manning.

“These results are a testament to a concerted team effort. Principal Louise Lemmer expresses her sincere gratitude to the matric learners, their parents, to all AHS educators and the school governing body for their hard work, dedication and support.”

“Kuswag is baie trots op die matriekklas van 2018 wat dikwels onder moeilike omstandighede hulle kant gebring het,” se die skool. “Al ons hardwerkende personeel het die ekstra myl vir ons leerders geloop en ons bedank hulle hartlik vir hulle toeweiding en opofferings. Ons wens ons matrieks net die beste toe vir ‘n blink toekoms.”

Kingsway High School’s principal Sandra du Toit explained that like every other year, KHS is extremely proud of the academic standard its staff and learners maintain in all grades.

“Our average pass rate for the school (grades 8 to 11) in 2018 was 98,2% which gives a clear indication of the continuous academic involvement of every pupil and educator in preparing themselves for the NSC exams,” she said. “There was a significant increase in the overall achievement of all learners during the academic year.”

She extended her congratulations to every matric pupil of the class of 2018 from all three local high schools.

“The achievement of every pupil is important to us. Their success can only be achieved through 100% commitment and hard work by every individual and every well-qualified educator, thus the outcome of 10 of our learners who achieved an aggregate of 85% and above, with four above 90%. To the top six learners (who earned) seven distinctions, we applaud you for bringing the honour home to us, but to every other candidate who completed the NSC, we are and will always be proud to be associated with every one of you,” she said.

She wished all Toti’s young men and women everything of the best for the future.
