Help tackle final 2018 Amanzimtoti beach clean-up with Clean Surf Project

This Saturday, 17 November Clean Surf Project will tackle the Amanzimtoti-Chain Rocks stretch of beach between 8am and 10am.

OCEAN warriors are urged to take part in Clean Surf Project’s final beach clean-up for the year, which takes place this Saturday, 17 November.

The event will see the stretch from the Amanzimtoti lagoon through to Chain Rocks cleaned of litter.

Since 2017 Clean Surf Project has tackled clean-ups both locally and outside of Amanzimtoti in an effort to rid the beaches, and in turn the ocean and its magical creatures, of plastic which is carelessly discarded by humans.

Thousands of bags of litter have been collected through the year from local beaches, all through the efforts of volunteers on weekends and public holidays.

Through CSP’s visits to schools, thousands of youngsters have grown more knowledgeable about the ocean and the importance of not littering, and about how they can collect litter off the beach before it causes further harm in the ocean.

These same youth, hopefully communicating the knowledge onto their families, have been educated about the importance of reusing, reducing and recycling, and reducing if not abolishing plastic from their day to day lives.

All this great work has been borne from the pure passion that the CSP founders and volunteers have for the ocean, planet and its inhabitants.

The clean-up begins at 8am and runs until 10am. Those taking part will be provided with bags but are to take along their own gloves and refreshments.
