CCPO apprehends barber shop robber

The suspect was positively identified, apprehended and taken to Toti SAPS where he was detained.

A business robber was nabbed by Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) and ET Rapid Response officers in Warner Beach on Wednesday, 31 October.

A barber shop in Roslyn Road in Amanzimtoti was broken into a few nights ago and some expensive clippers were stolen. “The CCPO received information from an informer soon afterwards and after some lengthy negotiating, we managed to get the clippers back from the person who had bought them,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey.

“The suspect, who was known to us, seemed to have disappeared from his normal area in the Toti taxi rank.” On Wednesday Snodey received information about his whereabouts and spotted him sitting outside the tearoom at the Baggies turn-off in Warners. He called for back-up and CCPO and Blue Security patrol officer, Mbuyiselo ‘Triple M’ Mdunjane and crewman Mbambo Nhlanhla, as well as ET’s Louis van Ryneveld, who heard about the incident on his CCPO radio, arrived to assist.

“The suspect was positively identified, apprehended and taken to Toti SAPS where he was detained. The CCPO continues to clean up the streets. If you not a member, give it some serious thought, as we need every local person and business to assist us to make the organisation bigger, better and stronger. It’s for everyone’s benefit,” said Snodey.
