Cupcake Angels to descend on Amanzimtoti

Cupcakes of Hope assist up to 70 cancer patients every month by paying towards their medical treatments or other day-to-day expenses.

Cupcakes of Hope hosts South Africa’s seventh National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer at Galleria Mall on Saturday, 29 September. This event is a community-driven project where volunteers known as Cupcake Angels ‘bake’ a difference in the lives of children with cancer.

Cupcakes of Hope is a non-profit company and public benefit organisation started by Sandy Cipriano in 2012. Its mission is to raise awareness of childhood cancer and funds for children living with cancer who are in need of medical and financial assistance. Members do this predominantly through their love of baking cupcakes.

“We believe everyone can make a difference in this world, all you need is a bit of time and loads of love,” said Sandy. “The only requirement to become a Cupcake Angel is that your cupcakes must be made with love. The dedication and love from our amazing volunteers have enabled us to bless so many children fighting cancer over the years. Our Cupcake Angels range from as young as three to 90-year-olds – from scholars to lawyers and pensioners, anyone can become a Cupcake Angel.”

Cupcakes of Hope assist up to 70 cancer patients every month by paying towards their medical treatments or other day-to-day expenses like food, clothing and transport for hospital visits. All of the cancer patients go through a stringent registration process, which includes the submission of doctors’ letters specifying their diagnosis.
