Homeowners urged to install alarms on gate motors

The men managed to derail the gate and force it open.

The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) has warned residents to fit an alarm on their electric gate motor. This warning comes after a block of flats in the Doonside area was hit by car thieves last week.

CCPO committee member, George Snodey said the men managed to derail the gate and force it open, using such force that it bent and broke the square tubing that the gate was made from. “Unfortunately the owner of the vehicle awoke to the bad news that his vehicle had been stolen.

“If you have driveway gates, I suggest you get your service provider to fit an alarm on the gate motor that will activate when the gate is derailed,” said Snodey.
