Knife-attack burglar collared again while out on bail

He was granted bail but on Monday, 28 May was back in business, caught on CCTV breaking into an Oceanview Road premises.

A man who was out on bail for attempted murder was apprehended by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) for breaking into a Winklespruit premises on Tuesday, 29 May.

In March Winklespruit resident, Andre van Rensburg was stabbed in the chest with a butter knife after wrestling the same intruder in his home.

He was granted bail but on Monday, 28 May was back in business. He was caught on CCTV breaking into an Oceanview Road premises.“We recognised him from the CCTV footage, so we posted some guards at the taxi rank in Winkle on Tuesday morning to keep an eye out for him,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey. It wasn’t long before he was spotted and the guards apprehended him.

In a separate incident, also on Tuesday, 29 May, a thief was apprehended after he stole weights from a Warner Beach yard. Snodey said workers in Elcock Road spotted the theft and ran across the road to Mike’s Signs to alert them. “With the help of a member of the public, the CCPO apprehended the thief and returned the stolen items, which were positively identified by the owner.”
