Amanzimtoti taxi region bares its heart to underprivileged

This year 14 taxi associations came together to donate uniforms and shoes to 351 underprivileged pupils from 74 local schools.

The South African National Taxi Council Association (SANTACO) Ningizimu one region brought much joy and celebration at its annual school uniform donation ceremony at Amanzimtoti Civic Centre on Thursday, 24 May.

Each year the taxi owners dip into their own pockets to purchase complete school uniforms and shoes, which are donated to local schools. “This year 14 taxi associations came together to donate uniforms and shoes to 351 underprivileged pupils from 74 local schools,” said communications officer, Thabisile Hlophe.
Last 287 pupils from 66 local schools benefitted from the generous donation by 13 taxi associations.

The Ningizimu one region covers the greater Amanzimtoti area, from Isipingo to Umbumbulu and inland to mid-Illovo.
