Amanzimtoti couple notch up marathon Midmar Mile tally

The Schroders are the only married couple to have swum this number of Midmar Miles together.

THE Schroders notched up their Midmar Mile count over the weekend, taking their total to a whopping 60 mile-long events swum in 40 years.

Lynn and Lawrence continue to live their lives to the absolute fullest, by keeping moving, fit and radiating contentment with where life has taken them.

“We are the only married couple to have swum this number of Midmar Miles together,” explained Lynn.

On Saturday the Schroders tackled the family relay race and were joined by their son Jono, who completed his 18th Midmar.

Over the years the Schroders have always looked forward to their weekend away, caravaning at the dam and swimming. This marked the first time in 18 years that the couple didn’t tackle the Mile on both days, as Lawrence was recovering from pneumonia. The couple enjoy their time away at different destinations year-round, seeing and soaking up all the beauty of South Africa.

Both keep extremely active – Lynn by swimming, which she also offers lessons in, and Lawrence with fishing, where he last year earned his Springbok blazer. The couple also enjoy cycling and, which they do a lot of all around the world, and walking.

The Schroders continue to set the example of just how great life can be, if we decide to make it so.
