BREAKING NEWS: Woman’s body found floating in Umkomaas River

The woman sustained a serious head injury and showed no signs of life when paramedics arrived at the scene.

The body of a woman, believed to be in her 30s was found around 8am today, Tuesday, 21 November, floating in the Umkomaas River Mouth in Umkomaas, KwaZulu-Natal.

Members of the public spotted the body and alerted ER24 paramedics, who arrived shortly.

Paramedics and lifeguards utilised a rescue boat and began to search the surrounding waters.

“The woman’s body was found approximately 250 metres from the shore,” said ER24’s Russel Meiring. “Lifeguards and paramedics brought the woman to the shore where she was assessed.”

She was found to have sustained a serious head injury and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done and she was declared dead.

The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
