Metro Police clamps down on Beach Road bylaw infringements

Those who fail to meet the expectation of the citations will soon find themselves the subject of warrants.

Following deliberation with Metro Police senior management regarding the unique challenges of Beach Road, ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge shared the bylaw enforcement statistics for cases noted from 1 to 12 November.

These included:

  • Obstruction – 1,
  • begging – 62,
  • car guards – 14,
  • hawking without a permit – 86,
  • washing cars – 8,
  • sleeping in a public place – 11,
  • alcohol consumption – 21,
  • urinating in public – 19,
  • spitting – 8,
  • unauthorised fire – 1, and
  • loitering – 1

“Those who fail to meet the expectation of the citations will soon find themselves the subject of warrants and the guests of the Department of Justice at Westville prison,” said Cllr Beetge.
