Crime network recovers stolen car in Amanzimtoti

The engine number was linked to a stolen motor vehicle case in Newlands earlier this year.

The benefit of the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) sharing its two-way radios with other security companies in the area once again paid off this week in the recovery of a stolen car.

On Monday morning, 16 October the CCPO received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in Iphala Road, Athlone Park and the information was transmitted over the radios.

CCPO committee member, George Snodey said CCPO and ET Rapid Response South Coast officers were close by and Antonie Botes managed to apprehend one suspect, while CCPO and Blue Security patrol officer, Mbuyiselo ‘Triple M’ Mdunjane nabbed the other two.

“The Metro K9 unit and SAPS units arrived swiftly to assist and it was soon found the Toyota Tazz registration did not correspond with the clearance certificate on the windscreen,” said Snodey.
