Romantic Isipingo beach trip turns to tragedy for couple

The man was found almost naked near the shore.

A late night romantic trip to the beach turned to tragedy when the bodies of a couple washed up on Isipingo Beach in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 26 September.

According to Isipingo SAPS communication officer Captain David Ragavan, the couple were at Umlazi at 8pm on Monday night when they decided to go to the beach with friends.

“At about 1am they went for a swim,” said Capt Ragavan. “When their friends couldn’t find them, they started to search for them. The man was found almost naked near the shore. Their friends called the police who began to search for the woman. Her body was found some distance away.”
