Help Kuswag rugby star achieve his goal

The grade 6 pupil's parents appeal for financial support as the tour to the iconic rugby destination will come at a hefty cost.

KUSWAG rugby star, Rudi Cordier (12) has been selected for the Westville invitational rugby team which will tour Ireland this December.

The grade 6 pupil’s parents are appealing for financial support as the tour to the iconic rugby destination will come at a hefty cost.

“Rudi has always loved rugby,” said his mother, Denise Cordier. “He started in his first grade of school and has only grown from there.”

Rudi has played for Amanzimtoti Rugby Club from the age of seven. This year, the young fullback has already attended the Kuswag U13 rugby tour, the Sharks rugby tournament where he represented Southern KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg and the July Bokkieweek in Naboomspruit. His performance during the Bokkieweek saw him being selected for the Westville Invitational Rugby team which will tour Ireland.

The fullback enjoys rugby for the simple fact that he belongs to a team and finds strength within it. Every player can contribute and make a difference.

As Ireland is one of the most popular and most visited rugby destinations, the tour promises to take Rudi’s rugby skill to a new level. The team will visit three rugby towns over their 10 day tour namely, Dublin, Cork and Limerick and play various games in each.

“This is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Denise. “I don’t want to let this chance pass such a deserving, talented player. However, it won’t be possible without financial help.”

Aside from his rugby, Rudi excels in other sports including athletics and cross-country and balances his academic work very well.

If anyone can assist Rudi to attend the tour to Ireland, ultimately making his dream of being a professional rugby player more of a reality, contact his mother Denise on 078-435-9497.
