Get on board to help Toti surfer fulfil his dream

It is a race against time for the young Toti surfer as he needs to secure the funds by 5 August.

Amanzimtoti surfer Koby Oberholzer (17) needs to raise R45,000 in order for him to experience the honour of representing his country at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Japan from 23 September to 1 October.

“My dad started putting me on a board from the age of three, so surfing is pretty much my life. Water is my happy place,” said Koby.
He has been selected for the SA team three times and an incredible nine times for the KZN team.

When he previously competed at the world champs, he finished in the quarter finals. “I think I have a fairly good chance in Japan and I’m hoping for good results,” said Koby.

It is a race against time for the young Toti surfer to secure the funds needed, as the money has to be in by 5 August.

Surf South Africa suggested all team members pay a further instalment of R15,000 to cover the cost of the flights. As these bookings need to be made early next week to secure the flights, it needs to have the extra R15,000 paid into its bank account by Monday, 17 July.

His parents have started crowdfunding to help him raise the funds and any help would be appreciated. If you can sponsor Koby, call his mother Lisa on 083-602-0714 or 031-468-5268.
