Damien shoots sub-par round at Umkomaas GC

Umkomaas Golf Club news and results.

Damien O’Connell shot an impressive three under par 67 on Saturday, catapulting his team, made up of brother Noah and cousins Rory and Jordan Bernardis, to a winning Waltzing Alliance score of 79.
As the lowest handicapper in the field (playing off 2), Damien was also drawn as the ghost and his incredible performance helped the team of Rob and Matthew Griffiths and Noel Parsonage to snatch second place, on a count-out.

Next best were Russell Cumming, Don Bradshaw, Dave Mulroy, and Graham Coxell, on 77 points.
Damien’s two birdies, saw him take half the 2-club pot, with the rest shared between Rob Griffiths and Wayne Addison. Riek Jansen van Rensburg amassed 10 points on the four randomly selected holes to win the Jackpot, a tidy 40 x return on his R10 entry.
The 2023 KidzGolf season kicks off this Saturday, February 4 at 08:00. All boys and girls (aged 6 to 18) who are interested in learning to play golf, are invited to come down and see if it’s for you, with no obligation to sign up in the first week or two. If you do opt to sign up, then a small fee is required to register for the year.
There is no requirement to have your own equipment, but players are expected to be dressed neatly, including closed shoes and socks, and come prepared to listen and learn.
Moms/Dads are required to remain at the club for the duration of the one-hour group lesson but can enjoy a breakfast or refreshments on the deck. If you’d like more information, please contact Natalie 084 4505196 via WhatsApp.
