Condolences to Kevin Beardsworth’s family

Kevin Beardsworth had not been in the best of health for a few years, but kept up his interest in the Scottburgh Golf Club and its news.

It’s a sad start to this week’s column as we have to report the passing of long time member – Kevin Beardsworth.

Kevin had not been in the best of health for a few years, but kept up his interest in the club and its news.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Trish and the family at this time and members will be informed of a date to celebrate Kevin’s life

The Wednesday Individual Stableford was a runaway victory for Brian Richards with 39 points leaving everyone in his wake.

Coming second, seven points further back was playing partner Wayne Simpson on 32.

Reversing those numbers, Graham Brown took Stone Last coming back after a bout of Chinese flu.

Denis Brown made a 2 club on the 5th and Tony Power (he’s here again) made a pair of 2 clubs on the 10th and 17th.

Just when ‘itsy bitsy’ had got all dried out, down came the rain once again and unfortunately the weekend was completely washed out.

St. Clement turned inclement and the Saturday Umthunzi Hotel sponsored day which was well supported being the main deferment, with the returning group of visitors also having to rebook for Sunday.

This weekend (28th and 29th) is the club championships.

The entry list is on the board and the draw will take place on Thursday evening. Good luck to everybody and let’s hope for some decent weather to complement the tournament.

Should you require a buggy for the weekend, please book with the golf shop.

The new scorecards are out thanks to our sponsor and please note the stroke index changes on the 8th, 9th 13th and 14th, especially when allocating Stableford points.

Flyer’s footnote: Don’t change the arc of your swing unless you are fairly sure you blundered in some way earlier.
