Lions charity golf day was a success

The club championships will be played on the last weekend of this month. The list is already on the board, so if you want to know how good you are in your division come and tee it up with your peers.

After the Joberg2c it was back to regular golf at Scottburgh Golf Club. The club welcomed the boys from the Bluff who joined in for a betterball Stableford last Wednesday.

As usual we let them tee off first as is the norm for visitors and for them to set the pace, but it was left to the Scotties to take the kudos as Tony Power on a great run lately along with manager Deanne Jooste and their 42 points won the day.

Captain Bob Hall and Geoff Thommasen ran them close with 41 and the Bluff boys also got in on the act, but it was only to pick up Stone Last honours being taken by Joshua Pretorius and past member Jacques Els.

The Bluffites enjoyed their day with us and it was further shown in the pub afterwards.

The Lions Club of Scottburgh provided the many prizes for its 4 ball Alliance sponsored day last Saturday – all proceeds going towards deserving causes within the local district.

Ninety points was the target set by Vis Pillay, George Raman, Jimmy Moonsamy and Sydney Naidoo.

Coming close was the team of Doc Mahabeer, Barry Kisten, Kevin Ramkisson and Ramu, with 88.

Finishing off the main prizes were ‘TM’ Moodley, Thay Govender, Thave Shanmugam and Dave Meredith with 87… And there’s me thinking you only get tigers in India.

There were many other prizes down the list and the golfers and sponsors were duly thanked by the Lions committee for their participation.

There are a few of us who are unwell at the moment, get well soon and get back to Dr Golf who is good at recuperation.

Flyer’s Footnote: Always carry two putters in your bag just to let your favourite know it can be replaced.
