WAFFLE AWAY
A visit to Ramsgate is not complete until stopping in at The Waffle House, where freshly made Belgian waffles – and more – have been served since 1991.
The history of this iconic eatery dates back to 1957, when John and Doreen Gaze opened the restaurant of their dreams, known at the time as the Tea House of the Blue Lagoon.
It was the start of an exciting journey for them but they had no idea it would one day become the famous South Coast landmark it is today.

The Waffle House, now co-owned by Pauline Lee and the Gaze family, believes food should be fresh, wholesome, nourishing… and delicious, of course.
Great care is taken in the preparation, including the use of whole foods and quality ingredients.
What makes the food that extra bit special is that The Waffle House uses organically grown vegetables and salad produce whenever possible.
And the popular eatery caters for vegans as well as gluten and lactose intolerant visitors.

Some of the very best curry in a province already famous for its curries can be experienced at The Green Chilli, owned by Prabashni Bipath.
There are more than 100 different dishes to choose from, including authentic North Indian food.

The husband and wife team of Michael and Senzi Frey applied all their creativity and determination into realising their dream of creating not only a one-of-a-kind dining experience, but an extraordinary one.
In 2013, they opened the doors of Senzi’s Shisanyama. It has grown in leaps and bounds and has become not only become one of the top restaurants in the area, but is also the place to be seen.

The dream did not stop there, it kept on growing, with the opening of the Lounge, and Exclusive VIP Lounge, in 2016, followed by Senzi’s VIP Valet Parking in 2018.
Senzi’s is centrally situated in Margate and is a unique, friendly and truly South African experience.
The menu which gives you the option of choosing from an à la carte menu, or enjoying their flagship Shisanyama, where you choose your meat which their Braai Master cooks to perfection, filling the air with classic South African aromas.
All of their meat is of the highest standard and is freshly supplied by Michael Frey’s Fresh Meat.

The Farm Food Factory is an indie craft food company started by Leanne Galloway – a professional chef, winner of Chopped South Africa and various other culinary awards – and Chris Viljoen, naturopath, nutritional adviser and business developer.
One of its main focuses is to support local, ethical, sustainable and organic practices in and around the immediate community.

They assist local businesses, service providers and farmers as much as they can, moving to other regions of the country to bring in specialised and exceptional produce locally.
They supply healthy and delicious fresh meals, amazing cakes and superb coffee, as well as frozen home-cooked meals.
They also do outside catering and events and offer harvest buffets and vegan buffets over weekends, showcasing the best produce of the area.

LOBSTER LOVERS DELIGHT
Established in 1967, The Lobster Pot is one of the oldest standing restaurants on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
Known as the seafood specialists, owner Linda Forbes prides the restaurant on catering to all customer tastes, at very reasonable prices,- and that The Lobster Pot offers arguably the best flambeed lobster thermidor on the coast.

Their legendary chef Sebastian Mendu, who has been cooking up a storm since 1978, recently retired but guests can rest assured, the food is as good as it has always been.
Be sure to swing by for a few drinks or indulge in their wonderful four-course Sunday lunch or their three-course lunch, now served Tuesday to Friday.
Apart from seafood, their other specialities include pasta, steaks, ribs and curries.
Rich in history and a true gem of Ramsgate, lunch at The Lobster Pot is a must.

GROVE LIFESTYLE
Newly established South Coast gem, The Grove, is situated in Margate, overlooking the famous coconut palm tree grove.
It offers scrumptious meals and exquisite cocktails.
Relax on the balcony and soak up the breathtaking view of one of the most iconic beaches in the country.

The Grove serves mouthwatering South African cuisine, with super-friendly and efficient staff, plus great music in extremely comfortable surrounds.
