Everyone knows what lockdown has done to local businesses, especially those in the hospitality industry.

It has also hamstrung live music performances and there has been a general air of doom and gloom.

That’s about to change as the country heads into Level 1 of the lockdown.

Chewing the Hornet leads the way in rocking Ramsgate with a street party at Popeye’s and La Scali restaurants this Saturday (26th), from noon to 8pm.

The popular South Coast band, which toured Germany not that long ago, will be joined by Tony’s Oldies, No Refund and BJ Pretorius,

“It’s time to taste a little bit of freedom under the ‘new normal’ and what better way to do this than by throwing a rock party in the streets of Ramsgate,” said Alan Hall, lead singer of Chewing the Hornet.

“We are trying to make it a street party vibe within the confines of the two venues and we will be setting up and playing into both venues,” said Alan.

“The bands will be setting up in the parking lot and playing into Popeye’s and La Scali (formerly known as Burlesque). It is an outside event and is therefore weather dependent. We’ll make a final call on Thursday.”
