THE cause of the fire that broke out at Port Shepstone Regional Hospital on Monday this week has yet to be established.
More than 200 patients, including those from the intensive care unit who were on life support, had to be evacuated to other hospitals. Many patients needed to be treated for smoke inhalation and shock.
It is believed the blaze began in the server room and caused huge damage to several other floors.
Now the rumour mill has gone into overdrive claiming the fire could have been deliberate rather than having been caused by an electrical fault.
