Political foes unite against Ugu incompetence

Both political parties claimed that the municipality's service delivery was shambolic.

HOLD on to your hats folks. It seems the ride is about to get even rockier for the beleaguered Ugu District Municipality.

On Monday this week the ANC’s regional office issued an ultimatum to Ugu to either `shape up and provide a proper water and sanitation service’ or `face consequences’.

And yesterday (Wednesday) the DA’s South Coast leaders and members marched to the municipality’s offices in Port Shepstone to hand over a memorandum seeking answers from Ugu’s water and sanitation department.

Both political parties claimed that the municipality’s service delivery was shambolic.

The DA has called for Cogta to place Ugu under provincial intervention.

While the ANC has given the municipality an April 7 deadline to deal with the water challenges.

Perhaps it is just political point-scoring by the parties or perhaps like most South Coasters everyone is tired of Ugu’s excuses.
