Inspect the roll

Take note, the closing date for objections is looming.

PROPERTY owners are urged to inspect the General Valuation Roll and object, if necessary, to the valuations.

These valuations are required to be undertaken by the municipality at least every four years in terms of the Municipal Property Rates Act.

The previous rolls were done in 2008 and 2012.

The valuations are carried out by referring to the database of property information which includes building plans, deeds office data and aerial photography.

If you are a property owner the onus is on you to inspect the roll to determine whether the valuation ascribed is a correct reflection.

Then you can lodge an objection if you believe the valuation is either too high or too low.
