Why so many crashes?

Everyone needs to take responsibility for road safety.

POLITICIANS love using buzzwords – euphemisms – to try and justify views and actions – but without actually managing it.

‘1984’ author George Orwell described such words as double-speak and that is exactly what they appear to be.

Before the start of every holiday season we hear the words ‘zero tolerance’ being bandied about, but, judging by the carnage on South Coast roads, no one is listening.

Wet weather has been blamed for the spate of recent accidents.

But reckless driving should go to the top of the blame list.

Drivers must learn to be more cautious and patient.

Please people, slow down and drive with care!

And the traffic officials need to target the real road hog culprits, and not only stop elderly people in old cars or lone women drivers.
