Out the forest for a win in golf

This was the 15th game between the two teams with Man Unit winning 11 and Liverpool taking 3 wins and one draw.

The annual Liverpool vs Manchester United golf challenge hosted by Pro Vision Golf and Social Club took place at the Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday.

The Port Shepstone Andhra Sabha and Pro Vision Golf Club joined forces to host the event, and the funds raised will go towards the renovation of the Andhra Sabha hall.

With heavy rainfall the previous night and early hours of the morning, a postponement was looking ominous.

This did not dampen the local golfers’ spirit as they headed to PSCC donning their team jerseys. Seventy-five golfers took the field at a 09:00 shotgun start. The rivalry and heckling was evident in every 4 ball.

At least players had a chance to cool down at two watering holes on either 9.

The top five for Liverpool were: 1 Alex Hadebe 42 points; 2 Fabian Makhanya 41; 3 Gansen Appanna 41; 4 Nhlanhla Ndzimbovu 41, and Nkosinathi Gumede 40 points.

Manchester United: 1. Savir Ghingai 42 points; 2 Jerome Ragavan 40; 3 Sew Ghingai 37; 4 Bupen Prakash 37 and Suveshin Iyaloo on 36 points.

Luckily, Liverpool had 40 players and scored 1216 points collectively, while Man United, with 35 players, scored 976 points.

The 2024 winner of this challenge was Liverpool, with an average of 30.42 as opposed to Man United’s average of 27.89. This convincing win put an end to all the Nottingham Forest jokes.

The 9th League Match/Captain’s Cup for Pro Vision will take place at Selbourne GC on October 6. Pro Vision Golf Day will take place at PSCC on October 20.
