Enter marathon on the day

The race is a Comrades Marathon qualifier.

Entries have streamed in for the South Coast Marathon, presented by South Coast Striders and Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, which will take place this Sunday, September 22.

RNM held an activation event, encouraging runners to enter, at Shelly Centre last Friday.

Online entries have closed, but late entries will be taken – and registration – at Ugu stadium on September 21 from 14:00 to 17:00 and on the morning of the race from 04:30 to 05:30.

South Coast Striders also held an activation event at St Mike’s Beach the following day.

The race crew enjoyed a pre-race route check in the rain, but the wet weather did nothing to dampen spirits.

It’s all helped create a buzz around the event and encourage more runners to enter.

Prize money for first place has been updated to now stand at R10 000 for both men and women.

The race is also a Comrades Marathon qualifier.

The marathon will start and finish at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre. All finishers will receive a medal.
