Bowls day raises funds for cancer

Organisers of the Pink Drive Bowls Day said the fundraising event was well supported by 96 players.

Through the Pink Drive Bowls Day, R36 000 was raised for cancer at the Riverside Bowling Club in Uvongo recently.

One of the organisers, Johnny Louch, said every day they hear of someone who has either been diagnosed with cancer, is in remission, or has passed away.

Marilyn Francis enjoys bowling at the fundraising event.

“The Pink Drive Bowls Day has been very well-supported. We had over 96 players honouring the main theme of pink,” said Louch.

Shawn du Bois takes his turn on the green.

Taking to social media, Joeanne Francis said: “A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Pink Drive Bowls Day. Your energy and enthusiasm made the event a tremendous success. A special shoutout to our incredible sponsors and players; we could not have done it without you.”
