Strong start for young MTB rider

There's a lot of travel and commitment involved.

Angus Bunge (7) of Paddock is showing some serious skill when it comes to cross-country mountain bike riding.

He is competing in the KZN Schools Cross-country MTB Series, which is halfway through now, with two out of the four legs complete.

In the six to eight-year-old age group, Angus has placed first in the two races so far.

In the season-opening race, held at Maritzburg College, Angus placed first amongst a challenging field of 93 boys.

The second race was held at Curro Salt Rock.

There, Angus was joined by fellow Izotsha Primary riders Emma Rowbotham, Ethan and Raelyn Papenfus, who also took part.

The top three riders in each age group will receive provincial colours at the end of the series.
