The third round of the Southern KZN Handicap League took place at Umdoni Park last Sunday, with two games being played. Both resulted in tense, tight finishes.
Umdoni Park beat Southbroom 6,5-5,5, and Port Shepstone beat Selborne Park 7-5.
Margate enjoyed the day off.
Last year’s league was close, this year appears to be even closer, judging by the results so far.
It’s too early to call a winner, but Sheppie can seal it with a win against Margate in the next round.
But should Margate win that game, then they could win the league by beating Umdoni Park in the last fixture.
However, Southbroom could still sneak in if they beat Selborne on the final day, provided other results go their way.
Even Umdoni aren’t entirely out of it, so it’s headed for an exciting finish.
Only two-time defending champs Selborne can’t win it from here.
