Athletes succeed despite hot day

All participants are applauded for their great efforts.

Scottburgh Athletic Club members represented the mid-South Coast at the Durban International Marathon last Sunday.

This was the last race to qualify for Comrades, and it was a hot day out.

Sphiwe Mgozi finished his race in 03:43:59.

The race started in Prospecton. The athletes ran to Virginia Airport, turned, and back to People’s Park near Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Results are as follows in the 42.2km marathon: Juergen Baumann 04:18:34; Rhonwyn Brayley 04:25:37; Dana Daniels 04:41:34; Casey De Lange 05:45:35; Vanessa Hattingh 05:45:41 (first marathon); Njabulo Langa 04:59:30; Sphiwe Mgozi 03:43:59; Daina-Lee Osborn 04:21:44 and Beverly Lawson 01:15:54 (10km).

Vanessa Hattingh and Casey De Lange were glad to be part of the Durban marathon.

Well done to everyone, and to Tarryn Goble, who completed the Ultra Trail Drakensberg 65km last Saturday.

Tarryn Goble crosses the finish line with help from her son Ben at the Ultra Trail Drakensberg.
Njabulo Langa gave it his all.
Jeurgen Baumann had a great run, despite the heat.
