Eagles enjoy cool conditions at Selborne

Mid SCH Local News | The next game is on May 7.

The morning was beautiful at Selborne Golf Club, and the weather was cool at last. The course was in magnificent condition once again, thanks to all the staff for ensuring that we had an enjoyable day.

We had 69 players and, with plenty of water on the course, this produced a high lost ball count of 194 on the day, with one 4 ball losing 19 balls. Sarie Hall’s estimate was the closest, well done.

We had a lot of visitors due to the holidays and this produced some good golf and new faces. Best lady was Marena Joseph on 34 individual points and Arlo Poole took the men’s prize on 44 points. The winners on the day were Wikus van Kraayenburg, Billy Adam, Dave Craig and Dave Jack on an alliance score of 90 points.

The longest day and collecting the Stones Trophy was Paul Thomas, Sarel Swart, Carl Mau and Fred van Prooijen on 73 points. The results were calculated by Stan Sim, Alistair Eyres and Eddie Mathews.

Eddie Mathews also presented the results, and this went without a hitch. On the fines side, Derek Hodge was the master and well-supported. A big thank you to our sponsors who, without the day, would not be as enjoyable.

Our next game will be held at Umkomaas Golf Club on May 7, and I hope to see you all there.

STAN SIM
