Athletes brave wet weather

Mid SCH Local News | The athletes certainly made their mark at these events.

Scottburgh Athletic Club members had a very productive weekend despite all the wet weather.

They participated in the Hippo Marathon in Richard’s Bay last Saturday, as well as the Galleria Mall Challenge in Amanzimtoti last Sunday.

The rain and long distance is no match for Howard Cele.

These events were well attended, and the athletes certainly made their mark.

Results for the Hippo Marathon are as follows: Casey De Lange 04:57:05 (first marathon), Brett Louw 03:47:26, Juergen Baumann 04:20:44, Amanda van Jaarsveld 03:53:56 (first in age category), Jacques van Jaarsveld 03:53:58 (personal best), Nduku July Mbuyazi 04:07:07 (personal best) and Mpilo Phila Mthembu 04:23:48 (personal best).

For the Hippo Half Marathon, Melissa Du Plessis achieved her personal best in 02:12:40.

Results for the Galleria Mall Challenge 21km: Howard Cele 01:38:38, Kirsty Moriarty 02:02:08, Dana Daniels 02:16:15, Jennifer Parsons 02:24:43, Tammy Quarsingh 02:29:39, Bronlynne Booysen 02:49:26, Zanele Ntombela 02:57:24, Ricky Pillay 02:16:24, Njabulo Ngcobo 02:11:51 and Sizwe Nkosi 02:04:21.

Allan Richardson came in at 01:12:02 for the 10km.
