The annual Margate Challenge, sponsored by Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach, is a highlight on the calendar and this year was no different.

At the end of two days of somewhat windswept betterball golf, local knowledge and wisdom seemed to be the key as club captain Carlos Pereira and Derek Egerton teamed up to win on 88 points.

Runners-up were Rolf and Agnes Spielmann on 84 points, with Shaun du Bois and Ettienne Kruger, flying Toyota’s flag, in third on 83 points.

There were two pairs tied on 82 points, with Mark Pride and Pierre Lavoipierre counting out Anika Mulder and Cathy Meyer.
In sixth place were Werner Duggan and Jan Nqoko on 81 points.
Seventh spot went to Koos Jacobs and Johan Stoltz on 80 points.
Prizes paid out all the way to 15th.
