Cricket girls impress at KZN trials

CMCA coach Veronique du Plooy said the selectors were impressed with the standard of cricket the girls were playing.

Yajna Singh, Jennifer Jayne Miller and Valarie du Plooy from the Clinton Moodley Cricket Academy (CMCA) participated in the U13 Girls KZN Provincial trials in Durban recently.

CMCA coach Veronique du Plooy said the selectors were impressed with the standard of cricket the girls were playing.

“We are expecting some good news in a few weeks’ time,” she said.

The girls play cricket for their schools, participate in the local academy league and for Chatsworth United in the KZN Premier League.

“Women’s cricket is on the rise and girls are playing cricket all over the world now,” said head coach Clinton Moodley.

“Come and join us, you’ll never know the possibilities if you don’t try!”

CMCA is looking to grow the number of girls in its academy. If you are keen on playing cricket, contact Veronique or Clinton on 082 6281462.

The team wishes Yajna, Jennifer and Valerie all the best and hopes that they get selected for the next round of KZN trials.
