Tweni2s set to ride and rock

This year's prize purse sits at a hefty R60 000.

The ‘party of the year’, aka Tweni2s, has been set down for Tweni on Saturday, May 11.

Tweni2s, which will be at The Spot Backpackers, is an annual community-based speciality surf and music event.
It has also become a gathering of note, and this year promises to be no different, with great surfing and an even better line-up of music, food and beverages expected.

The prize purse sits at a hefty R60 000. There will be a new scoring system, with a two-tiered format to allow for two finals and more winners.

The event was started by local surfers Derek Horlock and Byran Wigmore. It has now grown to summer and winter editions.

The last time there was an all-local final was the inaugural event in 2017 when Nik Njapha and Byran Wigmore beat Tweni locals Andrew Lange and Calvin Moore.

Andrew is now the event coordinator.
He explained that, over the years, Tweni2s has supported various junior athletes and organisations, including Tidy Towns and Ugu Surfing.

They have also hosted various local and out-of-town musicians and bands.

He urged groms and grommettes to join the free surf clinic and for those who love beach soccer to enter a team.
Andrew thanked the Horlock family, Round Table, and the greater South Coast surfing community for all the help thus far.
