Rotary golf day to raise funds for charity

The Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast calls on businesses to back the charity golf event.

In a longstanding tradition spanning over four decades, the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast, is set to host its annual golf day at the Margate Country Club on Saturday, February 24, with the shotgun start at 11:00.

Johnny de Wet, a well-known Rotarian and organiser of the club’s initiatives, invites the public to join the cause.

“It’s worth noting that the golf day has been a community tradition for over 40 years, making it a landmark event on the local calendar,” said Johnny.

The golf day is an Honour’s Board event which means that the winner’s name goes up on the Honour’s Board at the Margate Country Club.

The ladies side also features top-tier local golfers.

Over the years, Rotary has been a pillar of support for various local organisations and charities. These include CS Learning Centre, Othandweni Cerebral Palsy Care Centre, Tiny Turtles Crèche, child and family welfare, shelters for the homeless, early learning and youth projects, as well as conservancy support through sustainable water projects and vegetable gardens.

The golf day will feature a betterball Stableford format, offering players a chance to showcase their golfing skills while enjoying a day of camaraderie.

Local businesses are encouraged to contribute by sponsoring a tee box, putting green, or placing banners and flags around the clubhouse.

Johnny said the Rotary Club looks forward to another successful year, and extends its gratitude to sponsors and participants alike, for their generosity in making a difference in the community.
