Heavy winds don’t deter golfers

The Halfway Toyota combined Stableford is this Saturday.

September came early last Wednesday, as we were almost blown away by a sou’easter. It is usually a good sign for rain, but nothing happened, unlike load shedding.

Graham Brown blew us all away with a flat round 36 points, followed by playing partner Geoff Thommasen, and current Stone Last holder with 35.

Not surprisingly, no 2 clubs were recorded and no one found the difficult hidden holes.
Andrew Emray, a Nomads visitor, joined us and Nomads captain Bob Hall presented Andrew with Stone Last.

The P&G Construction betterball was held last Saturday, thanks again to Paul and Gina Tedder. With the wind still blowing a gale, good scores were difficult.

However, John Mills and Barry Kisten held up and with 42 points won the day and the whisky. Dion Steyn and Christo Steynvaart were 3 adrift with 39 followed by Brown and Thommasen with 37.

Nearest the pins went to Mr Nobody 2nd, Barry Kisten 5th, Anton Visagie 10th and John Mills 17th, all kindly donating their bottles of wine to the Sardine Run wheelbarrow. Playing partners of the winners, Tony Moore and Manny Meyer didn’t do too well but received Stone Last in good humour.

The Halfway Toyota combined Stableford is this Saturday (17th).
Flyer’s footnote: If your opponent hasn’t played the course before, don’t be a spoilsport and ruin all the surprises.
